Matthew Hindson's Crime and Punishment (2010) for double bass and strings will be performed at the 2011 ISCM World New Music Days in Zagreb, Croatia, in April. This work was commissioned by Barbara Blackman for the Australian Chamber Orchestra with Maxime Bibeau as soloist. It was premiered by the ACO on 11 March 2010.

Crime and Punishment was selected from the Australian ISCM Section's submission to the festival, which also included the following works: James Ledger: Neon for orchestra; Jenna Cave: A stranger in Helsinki for big band; Jane Hammond: Dancing with Ghosts for wind symphony; Brad Gill: Pillars (1) for percussion trio; and Ros Bandt: Tragoudia 1 and 2 for habiouli (shepherd's flute), tarhu (original long necked spikefiddle) and soundscape of goat recordings.

Also performed during the festival will be the new work Manifesto pour la paix for solo saxophone and ensemble by Katia Beaugeais (NSW), winner of the 2010 ISCM-IAMIC Young Composers Award. Beaugeais will perform in this work as soloist.

The 2011 World New Music Days will take place as part of the 26th Music Biennale Zagreb on 7-17 April.
