combining live music and moving image

The inaugural Aphids Reel Music Festival, held at Melbourne's Federation Square from 26 to 29 June, combines live music performances with moving image. The series of four events is organised by the Aphids organisation in conjunction with Australian Centre for the Moving Image. Two events feature music by the Melbourne-based composer David Young: Skin Quartet is his 2003 collaboration with visual artist Louisa Bufardeci, while Waiting to Turn Into Puzzles is a new work with the Sydney-based Ensemble Offspring. Also involved with the festival are the guitarist Geoffrey Morris and recorder player Genevieve Lacey.
