Australian music on ABC Classic FM in April 2013

Australian music on ABC Classic FM in April 2013

While more traditional classical music dominates this month's broadcasts from the Musica Viva festival, there's plenty of Australian music on offer in ABC Classic FM's April Sunday Live concerts, from the jazz combo music of Jackson Harrison through music for sax and string quartet by Jeremy Rose and Eric Gross, to Nigel Westlake's first string quartet and music for winds and piano from Brenton Broadstock. And on Anzac Day there's a second chance to hear the complete Westlake The Glass Soldier suite.

On New Music Up Late there's a concert from Syzygy Ensemble including music by Roger Smalley, Ensemble Offspring playing music by Matthew Shlomowitz and honorary Australian Cor Fuhler (NL/AUS) among others, and Perth's Soft Soft Loud Festival featuring the world premiere of Steve Newcomb's Antihero Suite.

On the internet there's more new music and talk for download in the New Waves Podcasts , including a series of recordings of new piano music performed by Zubin Kanga as part of his Spectrum program. And more recordings from the ABC archives in Rewind: the Australian Music Collection.
