Finalists for the Melbourne Prize 2016 and Awards
Finalists for the Melbourne Prize for Music 2016 and Awards have been announced.
Composer Liza Lim has been shortlisted for the main $60,000 Melbourne Prize for Music, awarded to a Victorian musician, or group of musicians, who have made an outstanding contribution to Australian music. Other shortlisted artists are David Bridie, Joe Camilleri, Kutcha Edwards and Adalita Srsen.
The five finalists for the new $25,000 Beleura Award for Composition are all AMC-represented composers: Chris Dench, Mary Finsterer, Andrea Keller, Kate Neal, and Anthony Pateras. Outstanding Musicians Award 2016 finalists include James Hullick, and Monica Curro/Plexus, as well as seven other artists, including Scott Tinkler, Lior, and Kate Miller-Heidke.
Development Award 2016 finalists include percussionist Matthias Schack-Arnott and jazz composer and sound designer Tilman Robinson, among others.
Winners will be announced on 9 November.
