MP3 downloads and digital library loans at AMC Online
From September 2010, the Australian Music Centre has added MP3
downloads and digital library loans to its ever-increasing
selection of online services. Over 1,400 works - not tracks - are
available on the AMC website for purchase as high-quality,
variable bit rate MP3 files. Downloads are priced from $1.95 for
works up to 10 minutes long - works spanning multiple tracks are
downloaded as ZIP files, and all MP3s are fully ID3-tagged with
cover art, performer information and more. Works available
include the entire catalogues of our represented artists featured
on CDs released by Move Records, Tall Poppies and Wirripang
[update 7 October].
In order to purchase downloads, customers simply add items to
their online shopping cart and can then download from their
digital locker within seven days of purchase. MP3 files are
listed as available products on the subpages of individual works
on the AMC website, but you can also browse all available MP3s.
For more information, see the MP3
subpage on the AMC website.
Digital library loans are an entirely new members-only service -
over 6,500 works are now available as scores for immediate
download. These scores are in PDF format and can be printed -
digital loans have a 3-week loan period, after which the file
will no longer open and printed copies must be discarded. Scores
are watermarked with the borrower's name and the date of the loan
expiry. Perusal scores are for research use only, and anyone
intending to perform a work (whether for a recital or an exam)
will still need to purchase their own copy of the score.
Digital scores are easily found through the subpages of
individual works of music on the AMC website, but you can also
study the entire collection of digital scores - more information
and instructions are available on the
digital library subpage.
