Opportunity: Asian Composers League Young Composer Competition 2012
Australian composers under the age of 30 are invited to submit scores for the Asian Composers League Young Composer Competition. The competition forms part of the 30th Asian Composers League (ACL) Festival & Conference in Tel Aviv, Israel, 14-20 October 2012. There are monetary prizes of US$500, $300 and $200, but more important is the chance to have a festival performance and to be able to travel there and meet other composers.
The Melbourne Composers' League will select one young composer to
represent Australia at the upcoming festival's competition.
Composers should be Australian citizens, or permanent residents,
and born after 14 October 1982. Available instrumentation: 1-7
instrumentalists (fl, cl, vln, vla, vcl, pno, perc). The piece
must be between 8 and 13 minutes in duration.
A total of US$1,000 cash prizes will be given to up to 3 winners.
Winner of the first prize will be invited to write a new piece to
be premiered during the next ACL festival (no additional
commission fee is involved). The ACL Israel Section will provide
hotel accommodation for the young composers for the duration of
the festival.
Scores should be sent to Asian Composers' League Young Composer
Competition, c/o Andrián Pertout, Melbourne Composers' League, PO
Box 4172, Richmond East, Victoria 3121, Australia. The scores
must arrive by 1 April, 2012.
