Opportunity: Jean Bogan Prize for Piano Composition

Submissions are invited to the Jean Bogan Prize for Piano Composition ($8000) and the Jean Bogan Youth Prize ($1500).

Compositions submitted don't have to be written for the Jean Bogan Competition but must be original compositions for solo piano, created after 1 January 2012. The works must not have won other competitions, nor have been commissioned or commercially recorded.

Deadline for entries is 31 October 2014 at 5pm. The competition is open to permanent residents of Australia except for winners of the previous competition in 2012. 1. Entrants for the Youth Prize must be under 25 years of age as at 30 September 2014.

Established in 1989 through the generosity of Mr. Laurie Bogan as a memorial to his wife, the Jean Bogan Prize is the only one of its kind in Australia. Previous winners of the prize include Elena Kats-Chernin, Andrew Ford, Nigel Westlake, Brenton Broadstock, and Chris Williams (Youth Prize).
