Opportunity: Merlyn Myer Composing Women's Commission
The Merlyn Myer Composing Women's Commission supports one professional female composer in Australia per year. The commission is for music of up to 20 minutes, in any genre, and involving instrumentation of the composer's choice (up to six lines). This initiative is designed to provide creative freedom to an accomplished professional, foster her artistic development and provide an opportunity for her new work to be performed. The inaugural commission was awarded to Sally Greenaway in 2015.
The new work will be premiered by Ensemble Offspring at the Melbourne Recital Centre in November, with a second performance in Sydney. The award will consist of a commission fee, presentation of the new work in the Salon, documentation of the premiere and travel costs for the composer if necessary.
Deadline for expressions of interest is Monday 20 March 2017 at 5pm AEST.
> More information and application form on the Melbourne Recital Centre website.
