Alice Humphries : Associate Artist

Born in Perth, and now residing in Melbourne, Alice Humphries is a composer and arranger working across the jazz and contemporary classical worlds. Her music has been described as 'bursting with life and fun, as well as great great beauty' (australianjazz.net) and 'deeply thought provoking… offering both moments of incredible intensity and sublime serenity' (eastsidefm.org).

Humphries's compositions have been recorded and broadcast for ABC classic FM, and her debut album with the 11-piece ensemble Ecila was released in 2012 to critical acclaim. Alice's music has received performances in Australia and overseas by ensembles including the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the West Australian Clarinet Quartet, and the Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra.

Alice was the 2010 composer in residence for the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra and a finalist in the 2013 AMC & APRA AMCOS Art Music Awards for Jazz Work of the Year.
