Reuben is an ARIA nominated and award-winning artist based in Naarm/Melbourne with a practice that is both singular and eclectic. Critics have lauded his work as "a vivid listening experience that gleams with sinister detail" (The Wire) and "beyond category" (The Australian), whilst his ensemble I Hold the Lion's Paw has been likened to the "feeling of having stumbled into someone else's LSD trip" (Sydney Morning Herald).
Reuben is widely known for his strong artistic vision and ability to bring people together. He has received critical acclaim for his collaborative projects, including APRA/AMC Art Music awards for both the studio album Closed Beginnings with Australian Art Orchestra, and the 24hr live telematic work Silent Towns with the Phonetic Orchestra. He was appointed as Australian Art Orchestra Pathfinder Associate Artist in 2019-20, Australian Music Centre Artistic Associate for Jazzahead! (DE) for 2020-21 and has been supported by Australia Council, Creative Victoria, APRA/AMCOS, and Sounds Australia for professional and creative development, national touring and international networking.
