I arrived at MODART with a fiercely strong concept of what it was I wanted to create, but the need to discover exactly how I would create it. Stylistically, I knew I wanted to write something which might be dubbed ‘documentary vocal theatre’: corralling a rich array of found texts (poetry, statistics, reportage) into a dense and highly expressive montage – like an operatic radio play.
