Kate Moore (b. 1979) has been living and working as a composer in the
Netherlands since August 2002 where she completed a Masters in music under
Louis Andriessen. As a composer Moore has embraced many curious
experiences, including spending two weeks in the ocean building a floating sound
sculpture with the sculptor Jade Oakley for the Noosa Floating Land Festival.
She has created interactive sounds installations supported by the Foundation for
Young Australians program, Canberra Contemporary Art Space and the
Australian National University, and has collaborated with the National
Choreographic Centre based in the ACT. Her works have been performed at
festivals such as the Gaudeamus Festival of Contemporary Music Netherlands
2003 and the Bang on a Can Summer Festival (US 2007). Recent residencies at
Bundanon (NSW) and lnishlacken (lreland) have provided her the time and
space to create a new set of works. Currently, she is working with Dr Dennis Del
Favero to create the music for his installations Deep Sleep, Dead Heat and
Limbo.

UISCE
A musical score for voices is laid out like a waterfall where the performers must
navigate their way through the score creating a river system of pitches. This
piece is about the idea that music is no more (or less) than water, vital for life,
necessary for cleaning. Named after the lrish word for water which is a word very
similar to the Arabic word musiqa and the French word musique.
