Event Details

SOUNDING OUT Composers’ Collective (SOCC) is a group of talented, emerging Brisbane-based composers formed in 2008 to raise the profile of high quality new art music produced by the next generation of Brisbane composers and musicians. 200 years after its publication, SOUNDING OUT Composers’ Collective reflects back on the fascinating insights and colourful prose of Goethe’s controversial scientific work A Theory of Colours. In a concert incorporating film, animation, and elements of theatre, seven new works for small ensemble by emerging Brisbane composers will lead you into a world where colours collide, blend and transfuse, where sound and vision exchange places, and art and science become obsolete terms.

Featuring talented students and alumni of Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University and the Queensland College of Art, A Theory of Colours is a new music and new-media event not to be missed.

Composers: Chris Buckley, Lisa Cheney, Peter Clark, Liam Flenady, Josephine Jin, Stefan Mashor, Reilly Smethurst, Philip Eames, Timothy Tate.

Visual and film artists: Phil Tyrer, Susannah O’Brien, Reilly Smethurst, Chris Buckley, Timothy Tate, Leon Johnson.
