Topology and Loops (Melbourne) transform famous speeches into song in this mammoth retrospective of radio’s 100-year history. Clinton, Einstein, Freud, Malcolm X, MLK, Hitler, Gandhi, Churchill and George VI. These are just some of the people who made their indelible mark on the airwaves. This concert takes a range of (in)famous speeches and frames them in music. The result? Each person sounds like they’re singing, and we’re led to appreciate the musical nature of speech, and how it subconsciously charges the emotions through melody. Joining Topology and Loops is a supporting cast of young artists (Top-Up), expanding the ensembles to chamber orchestra proportions for an epic treatment.
