Event Details
Celebrate Christmas in style with Allegri Ensemble at our final program for 2015, Sing Noël! directed by Andrew Bainbridge.
Enjoy a concert of beautiful motets and carols for Christmas interspersed with seasonal readings from Susan Williams. The program includes motets by Victoria, Parsons and Palestrina and carols by Kenneth Leighton, Benjamin Britten and Bob Chilcott. Tasmanian composer Peter Sculthorpe, who died earlier this year, will be represented in his carol “The Birthday of thy King”, commissioned for King’s College, Cambridge in 1988. The King’s College connection is completed in our tribute to Sir David Willcocks, who also died earlier this year, and the program contains several of his best-loved carol arrangements, including some for audience participation.
Featured non-Australian music: Leighton, Britten, Chilcott, Victoria, Parsons, Palestrina
