Event Details

Alvin Curran is one of America's most influential experimental music composers and at 75 years old, has worked with just about everybody in a contemporary practice that has stretched the full range of possibilities from free improvisation to orchestral and choral scores, from innovation in live electronic music to environmental installations, from solo marathons to sonic constructions for a thousand amateur musicians collaborating with everyone from Anthony Braxton to John Cage.

Jon Rose is last year's winner of Ozco's Don Banks life time achievement award, and for 40 years has been working at the sharp end of experimental, new and improvised music on the global stage, collaborating with many of the mavericks of new music including Kronos String Quartet, Derek Bailey, Butch Morris, John Zorn, Fred Frith, Otomo Yoshihide, and Christian Marclay.

Cor Fulhur's list of projects is dazzling and includes collaborations with Sonic Youth, Han Bennink, The Ex, Jaap Blonk, and Keith Rowe among many others. Cor recently moved from  Amsterdam to take up residence in Sydney - lucky us to benefit from such a talent.

Robbie Avenaim, is the founder of Australia's "What Is Music Festival?", a showcase for international and local experimental music which has been running since 1994.  He has worked with Mike Patton, Haino Keiji, Oren Ambarchi, Robin Fox, Chris Abrahams, and countless others in the world of free improvisation and experimental music.
