ARGO: SATURATION music for piano, flutes, sextet + electronics powerful, pervasive, tangible, inescapable :: saturation submerges you in music you can feel in the very air

In our first concert of 2017, Argo takes over the Judith Wright Centre, creating a synaesthetic experience where sound can be heard, felt and seen.

Surrounded by radiant visuals and engulfing soundscapes, the night features triple-Grammy-winning Chicago-based-Australian flautist Tim Munro and “barnstorming” local pianist Liam Viney, joined by some of Brisbane’s most exciting young performers. Driving minimalism, beating dance rhythms, electronica, contemporary classicism, and ambient music combine in a program to overwhelm your senses. The night includes two new electronics-meets-acoustic works by Thomas Green and Ben Heim, the Australian premieres of John Luther Adams’ lush yet mercurial The Light Within and Tristan Perich’s biting 1-bit electronics A/B/C/D, plus Philip Glass’ pulsating Music in Similar Motion and a few other surprises along the way, all with live visuals by Kit Mason.
