Event Details
Paying homage to the past but with a view to the future, the Australian String Quartet (ASQ) begins its 30th anniversary year by returning to the centrepiece of its first public concert, Haydn’s powerful Emperor quartet.
Also marking the centenary of Anzac, ASQ premieres the evocative and moving Gallipoli by Ross Edwards, one of Australia’s best-known composers.
Rounding out the program is Shostakovich’s third string quartet. Full of searching emotion, this five-movement work exudes passionate hope for a better future.
Featured non-Australian music: Shostakovich, Haydn, Liszt
