Event Details
Presented in partnership with the Melbourne Recital Centre, the Australian Voices series is a celebration of Australian music. In 2015 the series will take audiences on a journey of discovery across our great musical continent, looking to composers past and present who brought us to where we are today and who are continuing to shape our future.
Trumpeter, conductor and composer Alan Holley has been composing works that have been regularly performed and broadcast in Australia since the mid-1970s. Often finding inspiration in nature, the composer explains “much of my music is a response to the birds in our garden throughout the year”. In this performance, curated by ANAM Head of Trumpet David Elton, the ANAM musicians will explore Holley’s chamber works including the soaring Ornithologia for solo trumpet and The Winged Viola for solo viola.
