Event Details
We are delighted to reunite eight of Australia’s leading classical musicians from home and abroad in two chamber music concerts over the weekend of November 14th and 15th at the relaunched Robertson Hotel to present the 2015 AWO Southern Highlands Chamber Music Festival.
Artistic Director Christina Leonard has created a program highlighting works composed prior, during and in the period directly after WWI. This year’s concerts are a celebration of both the joyous clarity of innocence and a recognition of the futility of war.
Music by Ravel who rushed to finish his Piano Trio so he could enlist; Ysaye; Dohnanyi (with intriguing connections to both WWI and WWII); the overwhelmingly beautiful Rachmaninov Vocalise, as well as music by Schulhoff; and leading Australian composers Andrew Ford (pictured) and Elena Kats-Chernin, is once again coupled with fine food, local wines and chilled champagne over both events.
Come and enjoy the Festival with us, meet the musicians, indulge in a little champagne, beautiful food and a lot of fabulous music!
