Event Details
City Recital Hall and UTS present Blink! – a ground-breaking, multidisciplinary collaboration enabling Jess Irwin, a renowned photographer with cerebral palsy, to join the APQ as guest artist.
Born with severe cerebral palsy which affects her movements, Jess is non-verbal, but her deep love for music, incredible drive to succeed and unique flair for performance left her wanting more than just a listening experience.
The APQ have collaborated with Dr Jordan Nguyen, Nick Temple and Jess Irwin on technology that brings out her musical creativity. Jordan's start-up social business Psykinetic is aimed at creating futuristic, inclusive and empowering technologies to improve independence and quality of life for people with disabilities.
The program will also feature other works performed by the APQ: a 2016 commission by Perth-based composer Lachlan Skipworth; and Fauré's impassioned French jewel, the Piano Quartet in C minor.
Duration: approximately 1 hour, no interval
