This bass-less unit premiered in late 2006, bringing together three distinctive stylists (and bandleaders) in emerging young talent trombonist Shannon Barnett, and the experienced duo of drummer Allan Browne and under-exposed pianist Jex Saarelaht. Barnett’s profile has increased enormously through her work with Barney McAll’s Mother of Dreams and Secrets, the Australian Art Orchestra, Murphy’s Law, and the Washington/Grabowsky Project. They have a broad stylistic palette, including originals from all members.
