Event Details

Co-presented with JOLT Arts

CITY-TOPIAS is a collection of surround-sound chamber orchestra works that include incursions from kinetic sound machines and video art so as to explore the notion of the -topia affix. How does our conception of -topias enable/disable aspirations for a better 21st century vision of our city?

1. Dystopian City
2. Utopian City
3. Ecotopian City
4. Heterotopian City

The project, created by James Hullick and The BOLT Ensemble, includes collisions of sonic languages drifting between guitar-band culture fragments into sparkling contemporary sonic art.

Your City: Your technologised sonic art.

BOLT Ensemble: Belinda Woods (flute, ensemble leader) + Karen Heath (clarinet) + Adam Simmons (woodwinds) + Peter Neville (percussion) + Zac Johnston (violin) + Phoebe Green (viola) + Caerwen Martin (cello) + Miranda Hill (double bass).

This show is presented as a double header with Disruptive Critters. Tickets can be purchased for both shows (Show Package) or separately for each show. All-ages.
