Club Huge 5

Event Details

The late night escape for the Festival, the Club program features a Western Australian Showcase presented in association with WAM and curated by Sam Gillies. The Club will also feature works from the ICMC program.

Masonik is a multi disciplined, multi-musician audiovisual performance collective. Masonik explores improvised, composed and visually constructed musical forms, through video collage, audio de-construction and reinterpretation of old and new media narratives. Masonik presents each performance as an immersive audiovisual journey within each occupied performance space. Masonik collaborates with musician and visual artists from a variety of musical styles and genres.

Té [Andrew Brooks and Kynan Tan] create performances that interrogate the relationships inherent in improvised and experimental music. Utilising primarily saxophone and computer, Té work intricately throughout the range of possibilities of electroacoustic sound. Té often collaborates with additional musicians, welcoming flux and instability into different performance environments to generate new and unexpected situations. The group has collaborated with many world-class artists, including Philip Zoubek (prepared piano, Austria), Jo Talia (tape machine, Melbourne), James Rushford (viola, Melbourne), Austin Bucket (rhodes piano, ACT) and Finn Ryan (drums, Sydney).

The West Australian Showcase is presented in association with WAM and supported by the State Government of Western Australia through the Contemporary Music Fund of the Department of Culture and the Arts.
