Event Details

CAN_U (Creative Arts Newcastle) and Catapult Dance present an exciting collaboration: Contemporary Flute meets Contemporary Dance with special guest Timothy Munro (formerly flautist with Eighth Blackbird Ensemble, Chicago). Premieres of works by Hankin, Jeffery, Munro as well as student compositions.

Works by: Timothy Munro, William Jeffery and original compositions by the student ensembles.

Entry: $10 which includes a Wine Tasting by Inner City Winemakers

Timothy Munro has been based in Chicago for the last decade, where he has been a member of the Grammy Award-winning ensemble Eighth Blackbird. He is going to workshop his composition Last Exit with the University of Newcastle Flute class which involves extended techniques and improvisation and this will be premiered in the concert. A Flute Duo by University of Newcastle Alumnus composer William Jeffery will be premiered by Tim Munro and Sally Walker. Resident student ensembles Vanishing Shapes and Tone Camerata will be featured in the concert with original works. There will be a contemporary dance segment featuring Adam Blanch and Raegan Ashley Williams in which a film by Neil Mansfield will be shown.
