Event Details

Craig Scott has been one of Australia’s leading bassists for over 30 years and has performed with many of this country’s leading jazz musicians including Don Burrows, James Morrison, Julian Lee, Kerrie Biddell and Judy Bailey. In 2007 he formed the Craig Scott Quintet and since then the group has performed at many of Australia’s leading jazz festivals, including Wangaratta, Manly, Darling Harbour, and Bellingen, as well as for SIMA and Venue 505.

The Quintet features the musical calisthenics of two of Australia’s leading horn players in the front line – namely Warwick Alder on trumpet and Paul Cutlan on tenor and soprano saxophones. The rhythm section features two of the great ‘younger’ players on the Australian jazz scene. Tim Fisher on piano and Tim Firth on drums join Craig Scott on the bass to provide a platform of rhythmic and melodic interplay and are the engine room of the quintet. CSQ has recently released their first CD ‘Timeline’ which features a collection of original tunes that were recorded live in concert at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in late 2010. The CD was released in late 2012. For this evening with SIMA the quintet will perform material from the CD and an eclectic mix of music drawn from the wider jazz lexicon.

Performers: Craig Scott (bass) Tim Fisher (piano) Tim Firth (drums) Warick Alder (trumpet) Paul Cultan (tenor and soprano saxophone)
