"Inspired by traditional Afro-Peruvian rhythms and songs, the Daniel Susnjar Afro-Peruvian Jazz Group presents original compositions which combine infectious grooves, emotive melodies, risk-taking improvisation and extreme dynamics. Tonight Daniel launches his brand new album, which was recorded in New York City while on tour in the USA, and features a cast of world-class musicians from Peru, Australia and the United States. Western Australian drummer Daniel Susnjar has performed and recorded with music legends including Chick Corea, Bobby McFerrin and Dave Grusin. After touring extensively throughout the USA and Peru with the Gabriel Alegria Afro-Peruvian Sextet, and earning his Doctorate from the University of Miami Frost School of Music, Daniel is has become recognised as an authority on Afro-Peruvian Jazz. His debut album Su Su Nje was honoured twice at the 2015 Australian Jazz Bell Awards, and his composition "Pius Bartosik" won the 2016 WAMI Jazz Song of the Year award.
