The Griffyn Ensemble will launch their international collaboration with Swedish quartet The Peärls Before Swïne Experience with a concert and residency at the stunning Belconnen Arts Centre.
On the shores of Lake Ginninderra will be a ‘Water’ concert, exploring its many aspects in the ACT landscape – from the Canberra Yacht Club’s history at Lake George, to Ginninderra Creek, and Jervis Bay as a naval gateway to the world.
Featuring new music by Swedish and Canberran composers Marian Budos, Jim Cotter, Fiona Fraser, and Michael Sollis. Also featuring music by Alec Wilder, The Beach Boys, and songs made famous by the Andrew Sisters.
This celebration of Water and the great oceans which join Australia to the rest of the world will fittingly be the launch of Griffyn Music – establishing Canberra as an Australian hub of international musical exchange with some of the most innovative ensembles and composers overseas.
The concert will be developed with Kanga Birtles – a legend in the Australian sailing industry (once holding the Commonwealth record for the fastest solo circumnavigation of the globe) and long-time resident of Jervis Bay.
