Event Details
Join Ensemble Françaix for the launch of their Fellowship concert series that will break boundaries and new ground in contemporary music for mixed ensemble. The first concert opens with namesake Jean Françaix's Trio for oboe, bassoon and piano, a work of wit and vibrant energy that introduces the guiding philosophy of this new chamber group. Clarinet and French horn join the cast for Australian composer Paul Stanhope’s Morning Star II, and the evening is rounded off with one of the cornerstones of Russian musical literature, Mussorgsky’s boldly imaginative Pictures at an Exhibition, in a colourful arrangement by Peter Luff.
Ensemble Françaix: Emmanuel Cassimatis oboe, Matthew Kneale bassoon, Nicholas Young piano
