Event Details
Unearthing the sonic possibilities of both the acoustic and the electronic, experience two world and four Australian premieres by six composers from around the globe. This is modern folk music gone insane – a posse of megaphones, bell laden gloves and a mass of melodicas. New Radicals is new music to be seen, heard and most importantly, felt.
The NZ composer Michael Norris's new work in this program, Save Yourself, has been written as part of the Trans-Tasman Composer Exchange, a partnership between SOUNZ, the Centre for New Zealand Music, and the Australian Music Centre. Michael Norris’ residency with Ensemble Offspring is supported with funding from Creative New Zealand.
Performers: Veronique Serret (violin), Geoffrey Gartner (cello), Lamorna Nightingale (flute), Jason Noble (clarinet), Zubin Kanga (keyboard), Claire Edwardes (percussion), Zane Banks (electric guitar), James Crabb (accordion).
Featured non-Australian music: Yannis Kyriakides, Michael Norris, Simon Steen-Andersen, Øyvind Torvund, Matthew Wright
