Event Details

Following the successful Music in May series, Campbelltown Arts Centre crowns its homage to the piano with the complete performance of all four of George Crumb’s Makrokosmos, one of the masterpieces of twentieth century piano literature in which the notion of piano sound is redefined and explored through panoply of "extended techniques”. This reverential task will be performed by world renowned pianists Liam Viney and Anna Grinberg along with two of Australia’s most exciting percussionists Claire Edwardes and Eugene Ughetti. The result will be a kaleidoscope of sonic colour that is as much "experience" as "concert".

The Crumb experience starts with Vols I & II in the performance studio at 3pm and Vols III & IV at 8pm.

At 5pm in the gallery, Campbelltown Arts Centre is proud to host the world premiere of Martin del Amo’s new work Inaudible written for and performed by Eugene Ughetti. For this gallery percussion recital, Eugene will be joined by Claire Edwardes to also perform percussion works by Erik Griswold, Antony Pateras, John Luther Adams and Tim Parkinson.

A rare opportunity to spend a Saturday afternoon and evening in the company of great musicians and one of the worlds most original composers.
