Tenor saxophonist Mirko Guerrini and piano master Tony Gould have never played together before. Gould shares with Guerrini the love of moving between genres of classical and jazz, and the cross-pollination between the arts. For this premiere they will present some of their more representative compositions, and as well as some new ones, expressly composed and designed around this eclectic band. As Tony Gould states: “In the spirit of creative music-making things should always be changing, in the on-going challenge to avoid if possible becoming what Cecil Beaton called a 'slave of the ordinary' or a 'creature of the common place'”. Guerrini and Gould’s challenge then will be to escape the ordinary with the great help of a prestigious rhythm section in Ben Robertson (bass) and Dave Beck (drums).
