Harry Sutherland Trio - Rising Star

With around a decade of professional performance experience under his belt, it’s easy to forget Harry is still only in his early twenties. Even easier when one is struck by his virtuosity and sensitivity at the piano, exposing at once his intimate knowledge of and affection for the jazz tradition, and his desire to stride out and away from it. Expect a programme of thoughtful original compositions, performed alongside two considerable talents in Botting and Waples.

Harry Sutherland (piano) Thomas Botting (double bass) James Waples (drums) 9.30PM

The A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. Orchestra - Targeted Performer Series (Dave de Vries)

The A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. Orchestra was coalesced way back in 2010. Part chamber group and part improvisation ensemble, the group’s compositions come from each of its constituents, allowing for an intriguing array of musical styles and approaches to reveal themselves within one performance. The band’s mastermind, chief composer and admin demon, outstanding Sydney guitarist David de Vries, will feature as Jazzgroove’s sophomore Targeted Performer. This will be an extra special performance, the last of the band’s first national tour, launching their debut album “Initially”. So bring your mum.

Joseph Derrick (trumpet) Peter Farrar (alto saxophone) James Loughnan (tenor saxophone) Dave de Vries (guitar) Harry Sutherland (keyboards) Greg Chilcott (sousaphone) James Waples (drums)
