Gwyneth Walker | New World Dances
Ross Edwards | Piano Trio
Gaspar Cassado | Piano Trio in C major
Smetana | Piano Trio in G minor, Op. 15
This program explores works by composers for whom the influence of their country, environment, nationality and or specific cultural musical traditions is particularly significant. Ross Edwards describes composing his Piano Trio with the Arafura Sea in mind, and as in many of his works, he makes use of his 'maninya' form. Gwyneth Walker’s New World Dances explores traditional 20th Century American dance forms (jazz, blues, rock), while Gaspar Cassado's Piano Trio has a distinct Spanish flavour. We finish with Smetana, who is often regarded as a champion of his country's music and a passionate advocate for his homeland.
