Event Details
Intersections is the presentation of a new work developed by Simon Barker with members of local writing groups exploring the intersections between literature as the spoken word and music. This exciting performance will take the form of a conversation between writers and musicians, words and music.
As part of the Sydney Writers Festival 2013, this performance will cater for both lovers of writing as well as lovers of music making and promises to take the audience on an exploratory journey to a world where music and words come together.
Simon studied at the Manhattan School of Music with John Riley, Keith Copeland and Marvin "Smitty" Smith. Since returning home in 1990 he has performed throughout Australia, Europe, Asia and the US including a Trans-Siberian concert tour with the Mark Isaacs trio.
In addition to regular performances with Australian groups such as Scott Tinkler trio, Baecastuff, Vince Jones, Band of Five Names, Dale Barlow and Matt McMahon Trio he has also played with international touring artists including Claire Martin, Shiela Jordan, Gary Smulyn, John Hicks and Carlos Ward.
