“Listen up, she’s the real deal.” – Emma Pask. Prominent Sydney jazz vocalist Jo Fabro is returning to The Sound Lounge with her quintet JFQ. Fabro’s music is firmly rooted in the jazz genre, with hints of soul and blues music, which Fabro sights as an influence in her musical tastes. The 2013 release of the debut album from The Jo Fabro Quintet has seen renowned Sydney vocalist Jo Fabro step firmly into the spotlight of the Australian Jazz Scene. JFQ is firmly rooted in the jazz genre, with hints of soul and blues music, which Fabro sights as an influence in her musical tastes. This self-titled release – JFQ, draws on Fabro’s experiences, a combination of tunes written over the past 7 years, as well as songs written specifically for this album. Fabro’s deliveres both beautiful softness and raw power, and is backed by some of Australias premier Jazz musicians. This performace features the melodic brilliance of Pianist Greg Coffin, the raw energy of Guitarist Aaron Flower, the Mesmerising tones of bassist Karl Dunnicliff and the driving rhythms of drummer Miles Thomas.
