Melbourne-based Joe Chindamo is considered a world class jazz pianist, whose individual sound and style has won him many accolades and an international reputation that has seen him perform at such prestigious venues and events as Umbria Jazz Festival, The Tokyo Dome and The Lincoln Centre in New York. He has also toured with famed US drummer Billy Cobham for over 10 years, recorded 18 CDs under his own name and collaborated on other recordings with distinguished artists, including Ray Brown, Shirley Bassey, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, as well as reaching number 1 on the modern jazz charts in Japan under his own name.
With the rare gift of making difficult and complex music sound accessible, Joe has twice won the MO award for Jazz instrumental performer of the year, two Bell awards for best album and the APRA award for best jazz composition of the year (2009). With his classical and jazz proficiency, Joe brings a unique quality to his performances that makes seeing him live an exceptional experience.
Catch him in this exclusive Sydney performance for SIMA as he plays with a star local rhythm section in John Morrison (drums) and Brendan Clarke (bass).
