Event Details

Josh Kyle and Sam Keevers Songs of Friends Melbourne vocalist Josh Kyle and pianist Sam Keevers collaborate on this project, which Josh calls ‘Songs of Friends’, and which had a successful debut at the Stonnington Jazz festival in May. They present their interpretations of songs written by Australian singers/composers that Josh especially admires, including Kristin Berardi, Sam Keevers, Daniel Gassin and Sean Coffin.

Josh began his career in Sydney, but first made a splash when he was based in London in 2009-10. Josh had the chance to perform at Ronnie Scotts and Pizza Express, met Geoff Gascoyne (Jamie Cullum’s producer) who produced his debut CD Possibilities, and launched the album at the London Jazz Festival in 2011. Since returning home, Josh has worked at venues like Paris Cat and Venue 505, and at the Stonnington and Wangaratta Jazz festivals. He also won a lot of fans when he appeared on TV series The Voice earlier this year. Sam Keevers is an outstanding pianist, soloist and bandleader (Los Cabrones, Red Fish Blue), and is highly regarded as an accompanist to singers (including Vince Jones, Kate Ceberano, Alison Wedding, Katie Noonan and Gary Pinto).

Performers: Josh Kyle (voice) Same Keevers (piano)
