Event Details
Just about anything you can imagine can be set to music. Have you ever wondered what a musical version of a huge and hairy spider might sound like? Or a graceful figure-skater? Or a robot with a ray-gun? Thankfully, there are composers living today scattered all throughout the world who have asked these questions and come up with some pretty fantastic and colourful answers. Join Syzygy as we entertain you with music about the ordinary (and maybe out-of-the-ordinary) things that we encounter every day. Included in this concert will be the winning piece from the Mildura Arts Festival local composition competition – music that’s so new it hasn’t been written yet!
Performers: Syzygy Ensemble - Leigh Harrold, piano; Julia Stoppa, clarinets; Laila Engle, flutes; Jenny Khafagi, violin/viola; Blair Harris, cello
Featured non-Australian music: Helen Grime "Seven Pierrot miniatures", Carl Schimmel "Roadshow", Kaija Saariaho "Mirrors"
