Event Details
Since their first performance at the NOW now series in 2008, Laura and Monika’s duo has excited the Sydney experimental scene with their quiet, ambiguous, ephemeral music. With accordion and clarinet, they explore notions of harmony and restraint, developing a sound environment as one unit instead of two improvisers.
Their debut album, As Is, was released in 2012 on Sydney label It’ll be Awesome.
“Altman’s clarinet and Brooks’s accordion fused, not with lines, but with pools of sound, coexisting in an ecology that had no clear beginning or end - a calmly focussed, infinite field. As such, it was a seminal Sydney impro project.” (Jim Denley)
