Composer Liza Lim returns to Australia for WASO's premiere performance of her work Pearl, Orche, Hair String. Whilse she is in Australia she will present a series of FREE masterclass, workshop and public forum sessions.

'Patterns of ecstatic transformation' is a lecture about different cultural models for communicating 'the ecstatic' drawn from Australian Aboriginal, South-East Asian Chinese and European sources, and how these have been woven into Liza Lim's compositional practice in the last ten years. She will discuss her operatic works Moon Spirit Feasting (1999) and The Navigator (2008) showing video excerpts. She will also speak about her recent solo and orchestral works Invisibility (2009) and Pearl, Ochre, Hair String (2010) in relation to an Aboriginal aesthetics of shimmer.
