Event Details

The Looping Glass has arrived! Since its beginnings in Melbourne three years ago, this project exploring music for solo violin and live electronic looping has produced two critically acclaimed shows that have toured across Australia and New Zealand. And for one night only, 'Lost in the Looping Glass' will be performed in the beautiful setting of London’s St Pancras Old Church. Featuring works by UK and Australian composers (including London’s very own Max Perryment), 'Lost in the Looping Glass' will take you through a series of extraordinary soundscapes created entirely by a solo violinist and her live looping equipment. Listen to universes unknown, ocean storms, even the fall of the Berlin Wall as violinist Helen Bower moves from one loop pedal to the next; creating, exploring and falling head first into each new soundscape - to a world where the violin becomes so much more than it first appears. Creating each performance from nothing right in front of you, Helen invites you to leave the day at the door, close your eyes and lose yourself in this acoustic wonderland as it emerges, evolves and unravels around you. After several years of collaborating across the globe, Helen Bower and Max Perryment are excited to have the opportunity to work and perform together in the same place once more! As a pre-curser to ‘Lost in the Looping Glass’, and with special guest artist Maria Rodríguez Reina on cello, they will perform a selection of music by composers old and new. Well known favourites will be performed alongside music by Max Perryment, as well as the UK premiere of works by Australian composers Katherine Rawlings and Jessamie Kaitler. One London performance only so get it in your diaries ASAP! There will be an interval and a bar – everything you need for a great evening of music.
