The final installment of Legs On The Wall's Open Source 2012 program unlocks the Red Box at Lilyfield for an insight into the experiments of the Macrophonics team. Artists Julian Knowles, Donna Hewitt, Tim Bruniges and Wade Marynowsky have spent a month continuing their construction of environmental instruments, and will be demonstrating their capabilities for you at this intimate showing.
Macrophonics present a fascinating tool for live art and performers. In this showing you will find a space that is responsive to your presence and tweaked by your movements, granting you the scope to compose sonic scores that emerge genuinely from your physical performance. Though this is a demonstration of the technology and devices that make this a possibility, the choreographic and compositional potential of Macrophonics provide a valuable afternoon for those not familiar with soldering irons and programming languages.
Following the showing, the Macrophonics team will be holding a workshop for those interested in learning more about the construction and application of the technologies that are present in their work.
