These very special meetings have become a part of the regular '505' program and for good reason. Roger Manins has a very simple and effective philosophy behind his music making and this collaboration. "Open and joyous," is all he asks from the music. Well when you assemble a band of such great Jazz men as these it seems highly appropriate to carry this idea onto the stage. The repertoire is kept familiar so the interaction can begin on the highest level without the distraction of (too much) manuscript.
Mike Nock is without doubt the most recognized Jazz player to have sprung from the southern hemisphere. His credentials are second to none having performed with legends like Coleman Hawkins, Michael Brecker, Yusuf Lateef to name a few.
Carl Dewhurst guitar work has long been considered the very pinnacle of contemporary music in this country along with long time companions Cameron Undy and Dave Goodman.
Roger Manins is the complete Tenor saxophone player with a wide and fruity sound that digs a trench of a groove from the front of the stage and draws everyone along for the ride.
