Mark Isaacs has worked in the trio format since he formed the first Mark Isaacs Trio in 1986 and has released several trio CDs, including with major American players such as Dave Holland, Roy Haynes, Adam Nussbaum and Jay Anderson as well as various combinations of Australian players.
His current main focus in jazz is the ARIA-nominated Resurgence Band which has released a new CD/DVD Aurora and will undertake an extensive Australian tour in May/June 2011. In the Resurgence Band (also including guitarist James Muller and saxophonist Matt Keegan) Mark’s compositions are the exclusive focus but in this trio Mark will explore in the main the compositions of others, including jazz standards and other heritage melodies.
The trio’s roster of performances for 2011 include Walsh Bay Jazz Festival, New Zealand International Jazz & Blues Festival and SIMA “Cool for School”.
