Event Details
Join the Melbourne Art Song Collective for their final concert of 2013. Vaughan Williams’s Songs of Travel are among his best-loved works, and are presented together with local composer Dermot Tutty’s Sojourn, a haunting new song cycle.
Along with adventurous expeditions into the wild, Robert Louis Stevenson also examined the internal journey of the spirit in his Songs of Travel and Other Verses. Vaughan Williams employs these to tell how a man “lived and loved, and closed the door”. Melbourne composer Dermot Tutty explores a parallel journey through life’s trials and joys thereby exalting the universality of the human condition.
