Event Details
The long-held tradition of the Melbourne Composers’ League’s Elbow Room concerts continues with an afternoon of music in the superb surroundings of the Montsalvat Barn Gallery. The Elbow Room concerts provide a valuable opportunity for composers to present their newest works and are known for their broad array of experimental as well as more traditional music by local composers, including acoustic and electronic works. For audiences, the diverse mix offers something for everyone to enjoy or be surprised.
This concert celebrates the twentieth anniversary of the Melbourne Composers League with the launch of a triple CD and a ‘mini-festival’ of 2 hours of music, with time in the interval to enjoy refreshments at The Boulevard @ Montsalvat restaurant. Maintaining the MCL tradition of diversity, the concert includes works by George Dreyfus, Houston Dunleavy, Johanna Selleck, Peter Myers, Colin McKellar, Jacqui Rutten, Paul Moulatlet, Dindy Vaughan, and Evan Lawson. Performers including Danae Killian-O’Callaghan (piano), Tristam Williams (trumpet) and Peter Sheridan (flutes) will bring to life a range of works featuring piano alongside a wind quintet, vocals, a trumpet trio, flutes (including bass and alto), and electroacoustics.
