With their recent CD HEAR and KNOW attracting strong critical praise internationally, Mike Nock’s Trio-Plus is paring back to four members for this gig at the Sound Lounge, with the “plus” of saxophonist Karl Laskowski and trumpeter Ken Allars “often expanding the sound to wide vistas of cinematic proportions”. Now with the subtle use of electronics adding another dimension to the mix and the increasingly brilliant drumming of James Waples stoking the fires, this promises to be special night of exhilarating creative contemporary jazz.
