One of the most successful blends of jazz and classical styles to connect with audiences and musicians at an emotional level, Turnage's Blood on the Floor is inspired by expressionist Francis Bacon's painting of the same name. The tragic drug overdose of Turnage's younger brother, while the work was still being completed, brought to light the music's deepest emotional resonances.
The program also includes a new works commissioned as part of the Cybec 21st Century Australian Composers Program.
Featured non-Australian music: Turnage
