Event Details

Speak Percussion, Australia’s most innovative percussive arts organisation, performs a new high impact program of works, ranging from concert hall pieces to music inspired by underground genres. An all-Australian program of our finest composers for percussion, nightclubs/concerthalls reveals some of the hidden connections between electronic and acoustic music, pop and art music through a rich musical landscape of layered rhythms and shifting timbres. On Saturday 9th June, join Speak before their performance in Castlemaine for a special workshop that dissects the works in nightclubs/concerthalls. Speak will draw connections between pop, electronic and art music through live performance examples, analysis and discussion. The workshop will explore contemporary music that utilises electronics and a diverse range of percussion instruments, from the drum-kit to metal mixing bowls.
